Team Leader – Ted Otto

The focus of this initiative will be the more directly financial aspects of time and talent.  Examples include exploring whether employers have or are willing to start a program matching time/talent contributions to a church, matching of charitable contributions, planned giving, using donations of appreciated stock to meet the pledge, etc.

Planned Giving

For many of us, Christ Presbyterian Church has played a significant role in our most meaningful experiences like baptisms, weddings and memorial services.  You can play a part in ensuring that Christ Presbyterian will be there for another generation by deciding to contribute to the church by making a planned giving gift.  A planned giving gift can take many forms.  It can be a gift now, part of your tax planning or part of your will.  It can be in cash, stock or other assets.

Please prayerfully consider making a planned giving gift.  It’s easy to begin exploring what type of planned giving gift will work for you.  Just call Jack Redshaw, CPC Financial Secretary, at 761-6303 so he can talk with you about the Christ Presbyterian Planned Giving Fund.

Stock Appreciation Investment Donation

FROM the TRUSTEE COMMISSION: Did you know that as a Stockholder you might be able to benefit Christ Presbyterian Church and yourself?

HOW?

*  Hopefully your stock has appreciated in value.
*  As a stockholder, if you sell a share of your stock, you will usually have to pay capital gains tax on the growth in value
from the original purchase price.  That tax is currently 15% unless you have losses to offset the gains.
*  If that same share of stock is consigned over to Christ Presbyterian Church, the church can sell the same share of stock
at its full value and not have to pay any taxes on the stock.
*  You as the stockholder can claim the full value of the stock as a charitable contribution on your individual taxes.
*  The Church benefits and you benefit as well.

QUESTIONS?

*  Christ Presbyterian Church can receive your transfer directly from your bank or brokerage firm.  We currently deal with
two brokerage firms who can handle these transactions.
*  Please contact your tax advisor for more current information.
